Each time the computer connects to the Internet when you download files or browsing, or when there is an external storage attached to the computer, it's time our computers vulnerable to viruses. You can just install an anti virus to prevent the virus infects your computer. For me it makes computer performance slow down, so the computer feels less responsive in running the program.
There are a few tricks to solve it, the following tricks may helpful:

  1. Use Shadow Defender to Lock The Operating System
There are several programs to lock Windows operating system, for example Defreeze and Shadow Defender. Shadow Defender is preferred because it can exclude some folders we want. If you have multiple drives, you must first create a folder on the root drive eg D: \Data, E: \Master or F: \Video. Shadow drive D, E, or F, then provide exceptions to these folders. Usually the virus put a parent program in the root folder.
Click here to download Shadow Defender.
  2. Tricking The Virus by Create a File Extension Other Than .exe.
The virus usually infects .exe extension. Create executable another extension, for example .aap. Change all .exe files into .aap extension.

Just double click aap.reg to execute it, and now your computer will assume .aap as .exe. To create another extension, see here.
  3. More Tricks for Windows XP.
