There are several ways to install Ubuntu Trusty 14.04. You can use a DVD or USB Flash Disk. If you want to get a DVD, please order on the official website of Ubuntu. When using Flash Disk, you must create a bootable flash Ubuntu 14.04. How to create a bootable Flash Disk Ubuntu 14.04, please read other post on this site.
Back to the previous topic, on this post we are going to install Ubuntu 14.04 Trusty on a PC. Here's the way to install Ubuntu 14.04 that has prepared by cyberscie.com (for Video Click here):
- First, Language.
Select as you want, Select "English" <enter> - Ubuntu Basic Server Install.
Choose "Install Ubuntu Server" <enter> - Select a Language.
Use "Down arrow" to select "English" <enter>- "United States" <enter> - Configure the Keyboard.
4a. Detect keyboard layout? Select "NO" <enter> - "English (US)" <enter>. Wait... - Configure the Nework.
Hostname: "(Type as you want)" use Tab to select "Continue" <enter> - Set up users and passwords.
6a. Username "(Type as you want)" use Tab to select "Continue" <enter>. Set up users and passwords. Choose a password "(Type as you want)" use Tab to select "Continue" <enter>
6b. Re-enter password "(same as before)" use Tab to select "Continue" <enter>. Use weak password? Select "YES" <enter>
6c. Encrypt your home directory? Select "NO" <enter>. Wait... - Configure the clock.
Is this time zone correct? Select "YES" <enter>. Wait... - Ubuntu Server Disk Layout.
8a. Partition Disk. Partitioning method: "Manual" <enter>
8b. Select your "harddisk" <enter> - Creat new empty, select "YES" <enter> (Follow the Disk layout):- Setting Boot Partition.
8c. Partition Disk. Select "FREE SPACE" <enter> - How to use this free space: Select "Create a new partition" <enter>
8d. New partition size: 300MB, use "Tab" to select "Continue" <enter> - Type for new partition: select "Primary" <enter>
8e. Location for new partition: select "Beginning" <enter>. Partition disks: select "Mount point" <enter> - Mount point for this partition: select "/boot - static files of boot loader" <enter>
8f. Partition settings: select "Bootable flag" <enter> - Partition disks: select "Done setting up the partition" <enter> - Setting Root of Ubuntu 14.04 Operating System.
8g. Partition Disk. Select "FREE SPACE" <enter> - How to use this free space: Select "Create a new partition" <enter>
8h. New partition size: 30GB, use "Tab" to select "Continue" <enter> - Type for new partition: select "Logical" <enter>
8i. Location for new partition: select "Beginning" <enter>. Partition diks: select "Mount point" <enter>
8j. Mount point for this partition: select "/ - the root file system" <enter> - Partition disks: select "Done setting up the partition" <enter> - Setting Swap for a Page of Memory Space On Hard Disk (Temporary).
8k. Partition Disk. Select "FREE SPACE" <enter> - How to use this free space: Select "Create a new partition" <enter>
8l. New partition size: 4GB, use "Tab" to select "Continue" <enter> - Type for new partition: select "Logical" <enter>
8m. Location for new partition: select "Beginning" <enter>. Partition disks: select "Use as" <enter>
8n. How to use this partition: Select "swap area" <enter> - Partition disks: select "Done setting up the partition" <enter> - Finishing Disk Layout.
8o. Partition Disk. Select "Finish partitioning and write changes to disk" <enter> - Write the changes to disks? use "Left arrow" to select "YES" <enter>. Wait.
- Setting Boot Partition.
- Configure the package manager.
Left proxy blank, use "Tab" to select "Continue" <enter>. Wait... - Configuring Tasksel.
How do you want to manage upgrades on this system? Select "No automatic updates" <enter>. Wait... - Software Selection.
Choose software to install: Use "Space" to check and "down arrow" to move, than select "OPENS SSH - DNS Server and Samba". Use "Tab" to select "Continue" <enter>. Wait... - Install the GRUB Boot Loader on a Hard Disk.
Install the GRUB boot loader to the master record? use "Left arrow" to select "YES" <enter>. Wait... - Finish the Installation.
Installation is complete... use "Tab" to select "Continue" <enter>.
Note: Please remove your disk or flash disk. Your new Ubuntu server 14.04 will restart.
Note: About "FREE SPACE" or the remaining empty space on disk, you can set up latter.
